Beloved Nutmeg

This month, we lost our beloved Nutmeg. She was the absolute sweetest little soul I've ever met. And I've had trouble even putting into words the grief that I've been swept up into.

In times of uncertainty, of which there have been plenty over the last 5 years (and then some), Nutmeg has been my constant companion. She came running to the edge of her cage to greet me every day. She was always ready for pets and therapy snuggles. When anxiety made it difficult to breathe, I could put my nose in her soft fur that was scented with sweet hay. She was my snuggle buddy. My darling fur baby. And I miss her so, so much already.

But as my Mom said, in words that hurt to hear but were so true, we wouldn't have had Nutmeg if we hadn't lost Cinnamon when we did. And Cinnamon. Oh, it hurt like crazy to lose her. And I honestly wanted to bury myself with her at the time. But then we got Nutmeg, and now I cannot imagine having not had her in my life.

So, we go on, and love another piggie. We found a little guy who was alone and had a spot of fungal infection that we're treating while we wait for his first vet visit. He quickly adjusted to his new home and already has so much personality. He'll have to be vet treated and fixed before he can hang out with Callie for real, but they are constantly flirting through the cage. And it's so funny and cute!

And so, my favorites this month are Nutmeg, and Cinnamon, and Oreo, and Callie, and Little Cookie. And any other piggies that are meant to come into my life. 🌈❤️ Nutmeg will live on in my heart until I can be with her again in whatever comes after.
