August 2022 Favorites

August was busy and very stressful. I'm in a transition period with a lot things in my life, and even though most of those changes are positive ones (for once), change is still hard for me to process. Add in a bit of family drama, and you get, well... stress. But this month was also full of video game favorites!

Mario Kart: Two new sets of tracks were finally added. Including some old favorites, like Waluigi Pinball and Mushroom Gorge! I haven't spent a huge amount of time with these tracks yet, as I've been busy with other games. But it's always great to have more track options!

Sims 2: I've been been busy with Sims again this month. But not so much with actually playing it? 😅 I've fallen into the rabbit hole of default replacements and just making my game look better and more consistent. As it often works with me, I started with what I thought would be a small project and it turned into a much bigger one. I'm giving my downloads folder a much needed complete revamp, after many, many years.

AI: Nirvana Initiative: My friend finished Nirvana Initiative, and I'm already missing watching him play. The game was maybe not quite as strong story-wise as the first, but it was still gripping and fascinating the whole way through. And the epilogue presented a very interesting premise for a potential third game.

PS5: Best (or most exciting) thing for last? I got a PS5! I'd been looking for one for months, but could only find expensive bundles until getting an invite from Amazon. I don't have many games for it yet; it was mostly an investment in my gaming future. 😆 But to my surprise, I was able to transfer all of my games and saves from my PS4. So, I've been trying out a lot of old favorites and games I'd never gotten around to playing. Spelunky 1&2, Rogue Legacy, Loco Roco, Flower, Abzu, and the beautiful Unravel - among others. The system transitions between games very smoothly, though I'm still getting used to the new UI.

Music Favs: Yours (Now, Now), Melt (SHAED), Lovers (Late Night Alumni), Under the Sheets (Ellie Goulding).
